Wait! What is OECD?
The Organisation for Economic
Co-operation and Development (OECD)
Since July 15. 2013, for three months, I have worked as an intern for the Korean Delegation of Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) situated in Paris, France. My main duty for three-month was assisting the editor of the Policy Briefing, a journal which compiles the core information of OECD conferences, sent out to 3,000 politicians, professors, researchers etc in the world.
One of my main duty was choosing one topic and writing brief version of the OECD Factbook, the compile of the statistics that OECD publishes every year, topics ranging from GDP to Health.
OECD has its importance in the world, since it is the organization mainly consisted of the developed or developing countries and at the same time it suggests the standard of the statistics and policy guide line to each country.
Here I write the the basic information regarding the organization, how it is consisted, how it is worked and what their main work is.
# What is OECD?
First of all, let's briefly look over what experts mentioned about OECD.
Nobel Prize winner, Lawrence R. Klein says...
"A major contributor to the impressive peaceful economic recovery in North America and Western Europe after the Second World War was the presence of what came to be the OECD. Once again, OECD is needed for a new economic expansion in the wider economic community, covering enhanced OECD, that can bring economic development throughout Asia, Latin America and Africa."
Nobel Prize winner, Edmund S. Phelps says...
"The OECD Secretariat is the central nerve-center for professional economics and policymakers in OECD countries and an invaluable resource for the whole world."
# Did you know?
* Did you know? The OECD is the main reference for the certification and standardization of certain agricultural commodities and inputs.
* Did you know? The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) is an internationally standardised assessment, jointly developed by participating countries and administered to 15-year-olds in schools.
* Did you know? As early as 1996, in its strategy paper Shaping the 21st Century, the OECD pioneered a set of concrete development objectives that could be measured and monitored over time.
# Then, Where is OECD?
City of Sky and Love! Paris 75016, France
The Château de la Muette has been home to the OECD since 1961. Situated on the sophisticated west side of Paris, it is within walking distance of the Bois de Boulogne.
Beautiful place where the conferences participated by experts from all around the world is gathered all together!
# Why OECD is so special?
1. Center of the international network of policy makers.
2. Engage with talented and intelligent people from different backgrounds in public sector who came all across the world.
3. Growing knowledge network where you make difference
4. High profile research and discussion which would blow up your mind!

Israel - Who are they?
Israel- Who are they?
International Relations report from Hyo
I soon depart to Israel on 11th August, 2013, to participate the program called "Scoop Israel."In brief, the program aims to provide the "objective viewpoint" regarding the relation between Israel and other Middle-Eastern Asian countries , especially focusing on the Israel-Palestinian conflict. I was selected as one of the 22 youth journalists from 15 countriesin the world to participate the program which lasts for one week.
Distortion, propaganda, exaggeration....
Surrounded by the flood of the media reporting, we are get lost about the truth and the verity of what is exactly going on in the domain.
For the following days, I would try to have a brief overview about the country itself, Israel but in the further way, we would see what is going on in the Middle East territory and the conflicts between Arabic world and Israel.

Writing is a big joy to me as much as having a waffle with blueberry jam |
I do believe the power of writing. It moves people, inspires and connects each other with invisible strings and emotion. It allows you to delve into oneself, and draw for the better future. Yes, I am addicted into writing, regardless of language what I use, I enjoy scribbling down on the note whenever something new and fresh ideas come into my mind.
With just one sentence, you can change the world by step by step.
That is the power of the pen.

Exciting moment to interview Korea's favorite movie star, Ahn Sung Kyi |
So far so now, I have worked as a journalist since 10-year old. I exactly remember the moment when I had an interview to be the youth journalist for the newspaper called, "여럿이함께 (Together)" with my next door friend. The first interviewee of my life was a 70-year old grandmother who was selling vegetables on the street. I cannot still forget the thrill of the moment by interviewing her and listen to her life story with shining two eyes.

In 2006, I participated in the national article writing competition hosted by "중앙일보(JoongAng Ilbo)," one of the Korea's prestigious newspaper agencies. I was selected as one of the five youth journalists in my age group, by getting the 2nd prize in the national competition. Since then, I have uploaded articles regularly through the internet and one of my articles were published on the daily newspaper for the column section. The column was dealing with the fact that Koreans' national satisfaction index placed 45th among 47 countries, The first moment in my life when your article is published on the newspaper!

I worked as a journalist for the school newspaper, "Gimfl Square" at my high school days as well. We published the magazine twice in a year. It was chance to improve my English reporting skills by getting support and advice from my friends, my school seniors and teachers.
After entering to the Ewha Womans University, I started my internship as the staff reporter for the newspaper agency situated in the Jeju Island, Republic of Korea. Jeju Island is designated as the Unesco's World Heritage and it is one of the major tourist attraction site in Asia. I worked for the staff reporter for The Jeju Weekly and also assisted for the Chinese newspaper edition 济州周刊.

Beautiful Jeju Isalnd. |
My former editor Mr. Thacker was such a respectable journalist. He became one of my role models, by showing his enthusiasm and passion for the high-quality, transparent and objective writing. I got instructions from him regarding the English reporting from A to Z. He always encouraged me to go to the spot and find the article items, deal wide topics ranging from Society to Sports section.
I also worked as the media team intern for the World Conservation of Congress's Daily Newspaper, as the youngest and the only intern journalist for the conference Nature+. For 10 days, I was in charge of interview section and policy briefing. I interviewed President of Guyana Bharrat Jagdeo, Director general of IUCN julia marton-lefèvre, President of WBCSD Peter Bakker, Founder of the Google Earth Outreach program Rebecca Moore etc.
Currently, I am working as an intern for the policy briefing newsletter by OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) which is published by every two week.
I do not know how I would end up in 10 years from now on, but the thing I can assure is that I would keep writing regardless of my profession. I also would like to publish my own book, write about people whom I met.
